Secklow Hundred

Welcome to the website of Secklow Hundred Dragon Boat Team!

What is Dragon Boat Racing?

Dragon Boat Racing grew out of China 2000 years ago and has rapidly spread across the world into a highly popular team sport enjoyed by millions of people. You can read more about the origin of the sport on the History page.

What is a Dragon Boat?

A dragon boat is a long and narrow canoe-style boat, powered by a maximum of 20 paddlers with a drummer and a helm (steersperson). It draws much attention due to its size - measuring approximately 12.5m long and 1.2m at its widest. Commitment, communication and teamwork are critical to making the boat move at speed due to its weight, which can be in the region of 2000kg when loaded.

Who are we?

Secklow Hundred race in the British Dragonboat Association National League, with races up and down the country each year, as well as getting involved in other boating events, charity races and social events.
